De-mystifying the cost of UC
De-mystifying the cost of UC

The expense of attending a university can be daunting for students. UC Riverside strives to make sure all economic groups have access to higher education.

  • The best place for a student to start is the UCR Net Price Calculator which will provide a general idea of the cost of attending UCR, as well as possible financial aid. In order to be considered for most forms of financial aid, a student must have their FASFA paperwork filed by March 2. UCR's federal school code is 001316.
  • March 2 is also the deadline for DREAM Act applications. Unrelated to the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, the California Dream Act extends certain types of UC and California financial aid to undocumented students who qualify for a nonresident tuition exemption. Undocumented Student Programs (USP) can provide more information.
  • Please encourage all students to fill out FASFA paperwork. They have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. The information will be used to help students qualify for various grants including some that UCR students can automatically qualify for, such as the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan.
  • It will also help students explore work-study programs and loan options.
  • Financial aid award information can be accessed by the applicant or admitted student through their MyUCR account. Please make sure UCR applicants have created their MyUCR account.
Financial Aid Timeline
  • Oct. 1: FASFA applications become available
  • March 2: The deadline to submit FASFA and Dream Act applications.
